I like to have a plan, usually all mapped out in my calendar app, but I’m way over on the flexible side and easily move anything.

Have you always been this way or has it changed over time?

I think I’ve always been that way. The thing that has changed is patience. I didn’t used to have much, but living with Dan has made me have to develop a lot of patience.

I definitely tend towards being a planner in many cases, but I have been improving at being able to go with the flow.

Did growing up in a family that was continually late help you go with the flow? Or did it reinforce your desire to plan? Just curious.

100% reinforce my desire to be on time. I took my own car places from the minute I had a car.

I got a kick out of reading this, as I was just in Disney with my fam a few months ago and I found the whole thing overwhelming! I can also relate to the health self-talk you mentioned. Sometimes I focus on all or nothing, doing it perfectly, or not at all, and need to remind myself to ease into each moment.

Yes, Disney is A LOT. My son kept asking me, "Why are there so many people?" Although, I think he adjusted to the crowds and picked up steam as we went along. The day we left I asked if he'd want to come back sometimes and he said, "I want to LIVE here." Can't say I shared that exact sentiment...

This is excellent! Thank you for writing and sharing this Danielle!

I tend to be more of a planner person. But if there is one thing I’ve learned, it’s that life will always throw you curve balls! I try to pause, breathe and ask myself what am I supposed to be learning from this experience? How to be more flexible and resilient is usually always part of the lesson.

Enjoy the ride as much if not more than the destination my plan had in mind.

Thanks for commenting. Yes, enjoying the ride/journey is crucial as well!

As far as the challenges and curveballs that get thrown our way, you're right that they are usually opportunities to learn and grow.

For me, well, maybe not in the Disney example, but in other areas of life that don't go as expected, if I'm wise enough to stop and call out to God, it's often when I feel His presence the most.
